Well Samsung offers a 5-year warranty on them already. No sense in getting a third party warranty. I've only had one SSD go out on me from any manufacturer (other than OCZ, refuse to buy from them). In pretty much any case, if it happens, you can have a new one back to you within a week. Just make sure to make an image of the drive regularly and you can be back up and running in under an hour.

Main: Intel i7 2600K @ 4.7 GHz :: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 :: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz (4x4GB) :: Samsung 830 Series 256GB SSD :: Seagate ST31500341AS 1.5TB HDD :: 2x WD WD20EADS 2TB HDD :: EVGA GTX 580 SLI :: Corsair AX1200 PSU :: Corsair 650D

Folding: Intel i7 920 @ 3.2 GHz :: EVGA X58 SLI LE :: OCZ Platinum Edition DDR3 1600MHz (3x2GB) :: Intel G2 80GB SSD :: Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti OC SLI :: Corsair TX850M PSU :: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus :: Cooler Master CM690 Original

ok, thanks got the posts. Think I'm gunna get it. It's about time for a reformat and to install an SSD seems ideal, not to mention all my crap is always backed up on a cloud service.

( great cloud service crashplan.com )

While online backups are great and it's nice to have that redundancy, having a full image of your system drive available locally saves you time from having to find drivers and reinstall programs. All you have to do is go to the Backup and Restore center in Control Panel, select the 'Create a system image' option and allow it to back up to a separate storage drive. Once you get the SSD, all you have to do is take out the old system drive and put the SSD in, pop in a Win7 disk or USB drive, and select restore from image.

Win7 is pretty good at migrating from disk to disk.

Basically it would be the exact same as you have it now, just with the speed of an SSD.

Very nice. I think you'll enjoy it. I'll be waiting for the "holy hell, my PC is so much faster now" post.
